Wellness for the Long Game

Establishing a practice

One of the reasons (there are many more outside of this) that I appreciate Pilates as a modality for increasing physical fitness, cultivating a relationship with your body, and helping you feel stronger and more well all around, is the idea that Pilates was created to be a practice...

Pilates was meant to be done often; to be performed most days, if not every day.

I believe it is incredibly important to find types of movement and ways to nurture yourself in this life, because these are the things that bring you back to yourself and your inner wellbeing. I feel we must continually commit to this because there are far too many things that take us away from ourselves.

I think- to give back to your body in this way, to give it a form of movement that is facilitating whollistic growth is one of the greatest benefits to establishing a Pilates practice in your life.

If Pilates does not speak to you in that way, find something that does. Find something that builds you up, that moves your body, that makes you feel empowered, and strong in yourself. Find something that cultivates courage in your own body and allows you to trust your strength.

Why?
Because that is what it takes to create power from the inside out. It seeps into everything that we do, it makes us more confident in ourselves, in our jobs, and it boosts our mood (yes endorphins are a real thing), there are many benefits to having this as being a consistent part of your life.

So- I challenge you to look for that feeling, to notice when you have it, and what brings it to you. When you find it, do it! Do it regularly, use it to give you nourishment and fuel… a little bit at a time. I think what you will find is this is incredibly powerful in all aspects of your life. Fitness turns into wellness and becomes less of a result oriented game and transitions into a lifestyle.
